Tre Cime di Lavaredo - the Three Peaks

I've been a couple times to the Dolomites and have never had perfect weather conditions when hiking around the Tre Cime di Lavaredo - the Three Peaks. At least in my eyes I have either had boring postcard weather or the weather was too bad to take photos. Maybe it's just me, or maybe I should start looking at the weather forecast and then decide whether to make this 3-4 hour trip to Italy or not.

It's about an hour hike from the parking lot to get to the point in the photo above where I took this blur-hour-shot of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, and in the two images below you can see the oposite view with the "Drei Zinnen Hütte" to the right. At this time I was still alone on the path, but I could already hear the first tourists in some distance.

When the sun finally rose, I found quite a lot of still blooming flowers which I could place in the foreground of the photos of these huge rocks.

On the other side of the valley he cows were already lively and grazing on the alpine meadow, which was lovely illuminated by the warm morning sun.

Almost back at the parking lot at the Rifugio Auronzo the first real clouds appeared above the mountain called Croda Rossa d'Ampezzo (Hohe Gaisl). Later on the clouds turned into gray storm clouds and even later it started to rain heavily.
