Mlinarica Waterfall

There's a side valley to the Soča Valley in Slovenia where the Mlinarica River flows and where you can find the lovely Mlinarica Waterfall.

I think that valley isn't the right word, because when you reach the viewing platform above the Mlinarica Waterfall after an about 10 minutes walk from the road, the valley turns into an unaccessible narrow gorge.

The image below was shot with a telephoto lens from the viewing platform above the waterfall towards the gorge. Due to many rainy days before I made my trip to Slovenia there was a lot of water in the Mlinarica river, because usually you can't see this waterfall in the gorge.

When you reach the viewing platform above the Mlinarica waterfall, you can either stay there and enjoy the waterfall, or you can climb the short but steep and sometimes slippery path down and take some photos there right below or in front of the waterfall.

I usually go down there and hop over some rocks to the other side of the river to get to the waterfall. This can be a bit tricky at times when there's too much water flowing in the river, and I wouldn't recommend doing it, because even when the water isn't too high to jump to the other side, the rocks might be slippery ... not only you might get wet or hurt, but also your expensive camera gear.
