I don't know many things that I enjoy more than a sunrise on top of a mountain ... maybe a sunrise on top of a mountain without any other people who I don't know might be one of these things ;)
After a short, but exhausting hike for an old man like me, my son and I reached the peak of the mountain called "Großer Königstuhl" in the Nock Mountains (Nockberge) in Carinthia, Austria. It was a bit windy, and the wind was quite cold, so having extra layers of warm jackets in our backpacks was not a bad idea and kept us quite warm.
We've been there well before sunrise which is my favourite time ... the Blue Hour :)
It was a really enjoyable morning up there, and even the 3 other people who joined us on the peak a little while later didn't destroy the peaceful morning, because they've been enjoying the sunrise in silence, just like we did.
I usually love it to hike alone, but that day I've been accompanied by my son, who hasn't been on a real hike for quite some years, and so I didn't mind the few other people neither.
Most photos I took during Blue Hour look quite similar, and so I'm showing only a few here ... I don't want to bore you ;)
Below the peak there are some puddles and a small lake called "Friesenhalssee", but it was too windy, so we didn't take any reflection photos there - maybe next time the wind conditions will be better. I've been able to take quite a lot of photos of these layered mountains though, and if I'm honest, I like such photos more than the reflection photos I could have taken there.
