Passo di Giau has become one of my favourite spots - I'm searching for other, better photo spots there than the usual ones, where everyone stands at sunrise or in the evening.

I'm in search for spots which look good even without an epic, colourful sky, and the one I've found last week is quite promising. The best thing is that there are no man made objects like houses or the road visible, except the the house on top of the pass, bu teven this can be avoided if you hike a little bit further ... and you can see the others on the hills across the little valley. I have cloned the other photographers out though.
It's a hike of about an hour and there's no path, so it is sometimes a bit steep of a climb up the rocky slope, and you have to take care on your way back down. Especially when you are there at sunset it might become a bit dangerous when you climb down the slope in darkness.
