Above the Autumn

I never thought that I ever would have fun flying a drone, but actually I have had a lot of fun the day before yesterday...

A few weeks ago DJI brought a new little drone on the market, the DJI Neo. Although I always said that I hate drones and that I would never ever get one, because they are so very annoying when you hike and suddenly a drone flies over your head, especially when it's a nice and calm morning somewhere in the mountains. Their sound might be different from drone to drone, but it's always an annoying noise ... always.

Nevertheless, when the DJI Neo came out I said I'll try it, because I want to take different looking videos from the ones I usually take with my DJI Pocket 3 on my photo locations from time to time.

The Neo is a lovely little thing, but man is it loud - it produces a really high and loud sound, and the video quality isn't what I had expected from a 4k camera at all. I loved to fly it, really I did, but the bad video quality let me think of getting another drone, because I already fell in love with these flying things.

Said and done, I sold the Neo for almost the price I paid and a few days ago I got the DJI Mini 4 Pro ... and I love it. It's sound might be as loud as the Neo's sound, but it's deeper and so it's not that annoying in my ears, and the video quality is outstanding compared to the Neo.

It's a C0 certified drone and I had to register myself as Drone Operator and also the drone. Although not needed for such a drone, I have made the little Drone Driving License and while doing these things I have found out that there are not many places here where you are allowed to fly a drone. There are more No-Fly-Zones than zones where you are allowed to fly. Especially in my favourite part of Slovenia, the Triglav National Park, drone flying completely forbidden. So, I drove there to a place where I have never met anyone else and that's very close to the Triglav National Park. It's a beautiful colorful forest with brooks and waterfalls and to get there you have to make a nice and easy hike.

So, in the next weeks and months I'll have the drone in my backpack all the time, I believe, but I hope that I will not forget to take photos with my real camera :)
